City Link… Nearly doubled its market share by
a strategic M&A.
Company
City Link is a medium sized express parcel delivery service covering
primarily the UK and Ireland.
Problem
City Link did not have the size to compete with the major carriers
such as TNT and FedEx. It decided to grow by buying parcel company
Target Express in a £210 million acquisition.
Solution
With very little lead time, Carmasol was asked to prepare all the
announcement materials and briefing information. The information
for the different stakeholder groups - the Stock Exchange announcement;
letters to MPs and trade unions; customer and supplier leaflets;
press releases for the media; employee and management information
packs; investor and analyst presentations; a corporate video
and all electronic communication (website, intranet etc) - were
designed, written, printed, produced and delivered in three weeks
to over 100 different locations across the UK and Ireland.
Once the acquisition was announced, Carmasol developed a communication
and employee engagement strategy and implemented it during the
initial stages of the merger.
Result
A very positive reception to the acquisition by city analysts,
investors and shareholders and a strong and confident start to
the integration process. |
